2014 MPharm graduate

Muhammad Ali

I graduated from Medway School of Pharmacy (MSOP) during the summer of 2014 with a first class Masters in Pharmacy. I also managed to win the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Award for Best Student on the MPharm Programme. During my final year at MSOP I carried out my dissertation project at the University of Padova in Italy as part of the Erasmus programme. This was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend it to future students. After completing different undergraduate placements, I decided that I wanted to become a hospital pharmacist.

My pre-registration training took place at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. I passed my pre-registration exam and was deemed competent to practice as a pharmacist by my tutor. During my pre-registration year I carried out an audit project that looked into the monitoring associated with denosumab osteoporosis treatment. My project was shortlisted to be presented at the London Pharmacy Education and Training award ceremony, where I went on to win the award for best oral presentation.

I am looking to begin my pharmacist career at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a band 6 rotational pharmacist. This role will also involve postgraduate study for the Joint Programmes Board Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.

I am very grateful for the support provided by the team at MSOP. Even after graduating, the university continued to support students to ensure they were able to pass the pre-registration exam. The teaching staff at MSOP adopt a very caring attitude towards students, making it a great place to study.
