Research title: Regulation of mammalian two pore domain potassium channels by the neuroprotective agent sipatrigine and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs)
My project is to investigate the effect that sipatrigine, a range of synthetic sipatrigine derivatives, and polyunsaturated fatty acids has on K2P channels TREK1, TREK2, and TRAAK. This will be achieved by using the patch clamp electrophysiology technique to measure the effects the compounds have on the channel's current.
