Research title: What are the cellular mechanisms of Lithium-induced nephrotoxicity that precede clinical manifestations?
Lithium is the most widely used medication in the treatment of Bipolar disorder however; the kidneys are known to be adversely affected by Lithium treatment. I am investigating the mechanisms involved in the nephrotoxicity caused by lithium using ‘live’ imaging and multiphoton/confocal microscopy techniques in order to identify potential therapeutic targets.
