Research title: Pharmacological Regulation of Two-Pore Domain Potassium channels in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
My research focuses upon two-pore domain (K2P) channels and how they may play a role in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Primarily I focus on TASK-1 channels, which has been indicated as a PAH disease-causing gene. Using electrophysiology, computer modelling and confocal imaging techniques in combination with PAH therapeutics and novel compounds I aim to target PAH-causing mutations of TASK-1.
