Medway student societies win awards

Pharmacy Ball and Medway Islamic Society win Event of The Year and Outstanding Achievement awards at Medway Volunteering Awards 2014-15

imageSociety members, freshers’ helpers and volunteers from all areas of the Medway campus celebrated achievements at this year’s Medway Volunteering Awards.

The annual event celebrates the achievements of both Kent and Greenwich student volunteers and societies, recognising all the work from across the year, from fresher’s helper all the way through to the summer term.

The evening was hosted by GK Unions staff, alongside Medway Councillor Mike O’Brien, who helped hand out awards. Tammy Naidoo, Kent Union President, and Greenwich SU’s VP for Student Activities, Harry Hodges, also attended the ceremony.

The evening congratulated Kent and Greenwich students for taking part in volunteering outside of their studies by receiving a bronze, silver, gold or ‘gold plus’ ‘Student Certificate for Volunteering’ certificate from their university

The MPSA saw nominations in the following categories:

Volunteer of the Year
Society of the Year
Event of the Year (winner)

And Medway Islamic Society was nominated for:

Society of the Year
Outstanding Contribution
Volunteer of the Year
Outstanding Achievement (winner)
