Pharmacy rows to success
On the 23rd May the University of Greenwich, both the men’s and women’s teams enjoyed success in the annual Medway boat race. Pharmacy students Cassie Farbrace, Emily Luff, Bex Heaton, together with Amy Tanner from the School of Science, secured a win for their team against Canterbury Christ Church University. Tom Bore, a member of the administrative staff from the Medway School of Pharmacy and also a current student of the University of Greenwich, and other team members Tim Powell from the School of Engineering, Fraser Moncrieff and Matt Johnson both from the School of Science, were successful in securing a win in the men's race against their opponents from the University of Kent.
Since 2007, the annual event hosted by the Universities at Medway Students’ Association has seen competition from men’s and women’s crews from Canterbury Christ Church University, University of Kent and University of Greenwich, who are all trained by the Medway Towns Rowing Club. Students of all three Universities share the Medway campus with Mid-Kent College at Chatham Maritime. The course is approximately 2.6 kilometres and starts at Cuxton and finishes at The Esplanade in Rochester. The race was sponsored, this year, by Rochester Bridge Trust.
