The school has over twenty academic research staff arranged in three primary research groups:
The School has a five year plan (2005/06 to 2009/10) for developing capacity and infrastructure to establish a program of high quality international research. To achieve this, the School has made a commitment to investing £6 million over this period with £3.8 million in building refurbishment and start up costs, £1 million in research scholarships (for 40 PhD students over the next 4 years) and £1.2 million in research consumables.
