Medway School of Pharmacy tops national student league tables

August 2009

Students at Medway School of Pharmacy have rated their education as the very best in the country. The School topped the table of higher education institutions in the National Student Survey published this month.

Ninety seven per cent of final year undergraduates from Medway School of Pharmacy said they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with their education, ranking the school more highly than any other institution. The National Student Survey gives students the chance to turn the tables on their teachers, when they give their views on every area of university life, from lecturers to libraries.

“This is a fantastic result, and a reflection of our caring and supportive environment,” says Professor Iain Cumming, Head of Medway School of Pharmacy. “The students’ positive feedback is a tribute to the high-quality teaching staff we have in the school, the excellent facilities that we are able to offer on campus and the strong links that the school has developed with local community and hospital pharmacists.”

Emil Antonios, 21, is about to go into his final year of studies at Medway School of Pharmacy. He says: “All the students I know are very impressed with the campus and the school. The lecturers here are the best I have ever seen. Their lectures are great, and they are always up to date. Also, whenever you get stuck, they are always there to help you. The facilities are good too, with great labs, everything is new. I’m not surprised that the teaching here has been voted as the best in the country.”

Established in 2004, Medway School of Pharmacy achieved accreditation in 2008 and now has 60 academic staff and over 600 students, studying for foundation degrees in Pharmacy, or for the MPharm qualification which can lead to professional registration as a practising pharmacist.
