BPSA McNeill Responding to Symptoms competition
December 2008
Congratulations to 1st year MPharm student Joshua Igbineweka who recently won the Medway School of Pharmacy round of the annual Responding to Symptoms competition. The first round of the competition is held each year in the School’s mock pharmacy and organised by the British Pharmaceutical Student’s Association.
Joshua competed against 34 other students and was commended for his excellent communication skills and professionalism by the judges in the scenario based competition.
The aim of the competition is to demonstrate communication and people skills. Participants are judged on their confidence at asking questions and showing genuine interest in a patient.
The BSPA McNeil Responding to Symptoms Competition is open to all undergraduate pharmacy students. It involves a role-play scenario where students act as a pharmacist and respond to the symptoms of a patient.
Joshua will now go on to represent the school at regional level at Aston University in Birmingham in February.
