Our research is focused on the signalling mechanisms involved in inflammatory/innate immune responses. We are currently interested in cross-talk of MAP kinase-dependent apoptotic pathway and hypoxic signal transduction in toll-like receptor signalling. We also study the role/cross-talk of both pathways in programmed cell death. Furthermore we are investigating biochemical mechanisms involved in regulation of toll-like receptor signalling and cell growth by oestrogens and environmental endocrine disruptors interfering with oestrogen action.

Our new area of interest is the molecular mechanisms of interference of Nef and Tat proteins of human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) with apoptotic/hypoxic signalling pathways in infected and bystander cells.
