Stuart joined the Medway School of Pharmacy in 2005, initially as a teacher practitioner with responsibility for mental health. Earlier this year Stuart accepted a position as full-time clinical lecturer with the school, in order to concentrate more fully upon delivery of teaching. Since qualifying as a pharmacist in 1994 Stuart has worked in a variety of hospital settings, but since 1996 has specialised within Psychiatric Pharmacy Practice, he is currently a member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacists and serves on the National Council as College Registrar. Within the School Stuart has input into both undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes, he is course coordinator for the PDDA3 course, School Placement Officer as well as being joint associate director for Post Graduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.

His research interests include exploring behaviours associated with individual coping mechanisms and the impact these might have upon information seeking behaviour.
